From 4th-9th April, 1917, the 11th Royal West Kent battalion of 122 Brigade, 41st Division were in the front line at St Eloi just to the south of the Ypres salient. On the 7th April there was a raid by 47th Division on their left and in the very heavy artillery retaliation that followed this, much of it falling on their positions, seven men were killed and another eleven wounded. Ernest Langley was one of those killed. |
